Gentoos @ Edinburgh Zoo
Here comes the Gentoo penguins! Dedicated to boys and girls who adore the beautiful birds.
There are two enclosures, One for the Gentoos, and the other one is for King Penguins. If combined, the enclosures are almost the size of a football (soccer) pitch.
The two enclosures are connected by a tunnel. I think Gentoos are more likely the ones that cross the tunnel to the King Penguin's enclosure. Since I don't see any king penguins inside gentoo's enclosure.
the enclosure is huge! I had trouble to get a clearer view, since my camera doesn't have zoom feature.
There were lots of penguin! ^_^
I didn't ask the keeper for the names of each penguin!
I'm soooooo happy to be there!
This is a stuffed penguin doll ! Just kidding. It's a real one.
This lovely fella just stay still under the sun. I guess it was too hot, so the penguin won't do anything and stay still.
I tried to take pictures of penguins diving from the underwater observation area, but the water was green and the penguins just teased me! I had to look very close to the glass windows to spot them. and whenever I had my camera set, they approached me and *whooosh* swam away! Missed the penguins! So, I took picture of them from the surface.... still they wouldn't do any pose for me! XD
I only got this little fella's bum!
I took this picture from an observation area next to the hatching ground. Not much activity there.
The Edinburgh Zoo is very proud for their successful in-captivity breeding programs. Especially for their penguins. As you can see, there are lots of rocks set as nests.
This chick is starting to loose the baby feathers. It looks drappy in those half baby feathers and half mature feathers. ^_^
Don't you just want to help it pluck out the baby feathers with your hands??? ^_^
The keeper told me that once when she trained a baby penguin how to jump out of the pool, one chick jumped very high. It flew over her head!!
I hope this little chick will have the same burst of energy!!
